Based on the play The Philadelphia Story the film High Society, made in 1956, starred Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly and Celeste Holm with the music and lyrices written by Cole Porter. The film also features performances by Louis Armstrong.
Although Grace Kelly was not a recognised singer and had a rather limited vocal ability, the specially written songs were comfortably within her range and enabled her to shine just as much as her co-stars, making this one of the most successful musicals of the era. |
