There's No Business Like Show Business was originally a song in the Irving Berlin musical Annie Get Your Gun (although it almost got left out!) and proved so popular Berlin constructed an entire musical around the song. The film version, made in 1954, starred Ethel Merman, Donald O'Connor, Marilyn Monroe, Mitzi Gaynor and Johnnie Ray among its stellar cast.
An expensive film to make it was deemed a financial failure as it struggled to make back its production costs but, thanks to the title track in particular, the film has gained in popularity over the years thanks to repeated television screenings and video sales. |
